Longgang's 18,000-seat crystal arena: Mandopop and Cantopop tours, basketball and tennis
The Universiade Gymnasium (大运中心体育馆, also called Shenzhen Dayun Arena) is the indoor arena of the Universiade Sports Centre in Longgang, built for the 2011 Summer Universiade. Designed by the German firm gmp, it is one of three faceted glass 'crystal' buildings set around a lake, next to the main stadium and the aquatics centre.
With about 18,000 seats it is one of the largest indoor venues in the city and a regular stop for Mandopop and Cantopop tours: Li Keqin, Shan Yichun, Guang Liang, Richie Jen, Zhang Yixing and Wang Leehom all played here in 2024 and 2025. It was refurbished for the 2025 National Games with new screens, seating, sound, wifi and accessible facilities.
It is a long way from Futian and Nanshan, but it sits on Line 16 and is walkable from the Line 3/14 interchange, so it works for an evening trip if you plan the ride home.
