Most language exchanges in Shenzhen are organised in WeChat groups, change venue often and stop without notice, so many of the weekly exchanges named in older articles no longer run. This guide only lists exchanges with a schedule we could confirm recently. Each one shows its next date, pulled live from our calendar.
Weekly language exchanges
Amy & Jean Spanish Club
Futian (Jingtian) · About ¥99–125, tasting included

Dates announced in the organiser's WeChat group
- What
- A Saturday-morning Spanish conversation club at Richkat Craft Brewing in Jingtian, running since August 2024. Each session has a country theme, a beginners' group (A1–A2) and an intermediate group (B1–B2).
- Why go
- It's structured, with games, role-play and discussion by level, and the hosts include native speakers from Latin America. Pick this one if you want real practice rather than small talk.
- Don't miss
- The tasting at the start: breakfast or snacks from that week's country.
Where else you'll practise
These nights aren't billed as exchanges, but they put you at a table with people who speak another language, and they give you something to talk about.
Shenzhen Toastmasters Club
Futian · Free for guests

- What
- Shenzhen's first Toastmasters club, meeting every Tuesday evening since 2003: prepared speeches, an impromptu Table Topics round and feedback on everything, in English.
- Why go
- Most members aren't native English speakers, so it's a supportive room for practising English in front of people, and a good way to meet professionals.
- Don't miss
- Table Topics. Guests can be asked to speak for a minute or two, or can pass.
Craft Head Pub Quiz
Futian (Xinzhou) · Free pints for round winners

- What
- A Thursday quiz upstairs at Craft Head Brewing, with rounds on general knowledge, film, music and sport.
- Why go
- There's a prize every round, so you can join partway through, and a quiz gives a mixed table something to talk about.
- Don't miss
- Happy hour runs until 8pm, so come early for food and a table.
Sea World Series Trivia
Shekou (Sea World) · Free

- What
- A Wednesday trivia league that alternates between George & Dragon and Gecko Pizza & Pub, with rotating quizmasters.
- Why go
- No entry fee and teams of up to six. If you turn up alone, you can join a team.
- Don't miss
- Check which pub is hosting that week before you go.
Shekou Hash House Harriers
Shekou (Sea World) · ¥80 men / ¥60 women

- What
- A Saturday trail run or walk in the hills: a bus leaves George & Dragon at 1:30pm and brings everyone back to the pub afterwards.
- Why go
- An afternoon on a trail with a mixed international group is a lot of conversation, and walkers are welcome.
- Don't miss
- The 'circle' at the end: songs, drinks and mock punishments.
