Wakin Chau, who recorded as Emil Chau through the 1980s and '90s, is a Hong Kong-born singer who made his name in Taiwan and became one of Mandopop's best-loved voices. He started out writing pop songs and advertising jingles at Rock Records, then had a run of huge albums in the early 1990s: You Make Me Happy and Sad (让我欢喜让我忧) and The Flowery Heart (花心) sold in the millions. His 1997 song 'Friends' (朋友) became a graduation and KTV anthem across the Chinese-speaking world. In 2008 he formed the touring supergroup Superband with Lo Ta-yu, Jonathan Lee and Chang Chen-yue, and he released a new album in May 2026. A Boy's Fantastic Journey is two nights of singalong classics at the Universiade Gymnasium.

Tickets
How to buy tickets as a foreigner
- Get the app. Download Damai (大麦) or Maoyan (猫眼) — Showstart (秀动) for livehouses. You need a Chinese phone number to register; if you don't have one, a friend can buy for you.
- Add yourself as a real-name attendee. In the app, add a 实名观演人 (attendee) with your passport number exactly as printed. Each ticket is tied to one ID.
- Be ready before the drop. Big tours sell out in minutes. Tap 想看 / 预约 for a reminder, be logged in with payment set up (Alipay or WeChat Pay) at least 10 minutes early.
- Bring the same passport. No paper tickets: at the gate you scan the passport you booked with, plus a face check. A different ID won't get in.
