Longhua in a minute

Longhua is the district in the middle of the city's northern half, north of Futian and Nanshan, between Bao'an and Longgang. For most people it means one thing: Shenzhen North, the city's main high-speed rail hub.

Beyond the station it's a mostly residential district, with new towns, big malls and office towers that host cross-border e-commerce summits and seller meetups. Further north, around Guanlan, the old Shenzhen survives in Hakka villages that artists have moved into.

Come for a train, a seller summit, a round of pickleball at Mission Hills, or a slow Saturday in the art villages and Guanlan's 18th-century market streets. Line 4, run by Hong Kong's MTR, is the spine that ties it all to Futian.

Art villages

The villages are spread out, so plan a metro ride to Niuhu or Guanlan and a short taxi between them.
