The rebuilt Futian arena: 15,000 seats, a retractable roof, CBA basketball and big concerts

The Shenzhen Sports Center Arena (深圳体育馆, often listed as 深圳市体育中心体育馆) is the brand-new main hall of the old Futian sports centre on Sungang West Road. The original 1985 gym, one of the city's first landmark public buildings, was replaced in a full rebuild, and the new arena played its first game on 18 October 2024: a CBA home opener for the Shenzhen Leopards.

The main hall seats about 15,000 (official figure at opening; some guides say 16,000) and is the first big arena in China to combine a retractable roof with a fold-away centre-hung screen. It switches between basketball, badminton, tennis, gymnastics and ice hockey, and between games it is one of the city's busiest concert rooms. A 2,400-seat secondary hall sits next door.

Being in central Futian, it is the easiest big arena in Shenzhen to reach: three metro stations are within walking distance, unlike the Universiade venues out in Longgang.

What to see and do

Main hall

About 15,000 seats with retractable seating, accessible seating and four-sided LED screens. The roof can open, and the centre screen folds away.

Shenzhen Leopards basketball

The arena is the CBA home of the Shenzhen Leopards since the 2024–25 season.

International sport

It hosted the 2024 China Masters badminton (BWF Super 750), Division A of the FIBA Women's Asia Cup in July 2025, and events at the 15th National Games in November 2025.

Concerts

Pop shows since reopening include Rainie Yang (March 2025) and two sold-out nights of Cyndi Wang (May 2025); Aaron Kwok and Rainie Yang are on the 2026 calendar.

Secondary hall

A 2,400-seat hall used for warm-ups, training and smaller tournaments, such as Division B of the 2025 Women's Asia Cup.

  • Concert tickets are real-name: the name and ID number you enter when buying must match the ID you carry in. Recent shows here listed passports among accepted documents.
  • Huangmugang is an interchange for Lines 7 and 14, which gives you a second way out if Sports Center station is packed after a show; Line 14 is the express line east toward Longgang.
  • The wider sports centre is still being rebuilt around the arena (a 45,000-seat football stadium, sports museum and hotel are planned), so expect hoardings and changing walking routes.
  • Don't drive to a concert: parking is limited and the roads around Sungang and Huangmugang jam after shows.
