Gloria Tang, known on stage as G.E.M., is a Shanghai-born, Hong Kong-raised singer-songwriter and one of the biggest names in Chinese pop. She debuted as a teenager in 2008, and her run on the TV contest I Am a Singer in 2014 made her a household name across mainland China. She writes her own songs, and her voice is the calling card: big, agile and built for ballads that go for the rafters. Most people know 'Bubble' (泡沫) and 'Light Years Away' (光年之外), the Chinese theme for the film Passengers. Her I Am Gloria world tour, on the road since late 2023, ranks among the highest-grossing tours ever by a female artist. In Shenzhen it's a stadium singalong in Mandarin and Cantonese; you don't need the language to feel the big choruses land.
