What is Formnext Asia Shenzhen?
Formnext Asia Shenzhen is the Asian offshoot of Formnext, the Frankfurt fair that Messe Frankfurt bills as the world's largest for additive manufacturing. Messe Frankfurt's Guangzhou joint venture launched it in 2021 as Formnext + PM South China, having postponed the 2020 debut, and it has since become a pure 3D-printing show at Shenzhen World. The 2026 edition filled Hall 15 (about 20,000 m²) and, according to the organiser, brought 330 exhibitors and 34,202 visitors from 113 countries and regions, a 65% jump in visitors on 2025.
The floor covers the whole additive chain for metal, polymer and ceramic parts: printers, powders and filaments, software, inspection and post-processing. On the industrial side, the 2026 list included Bright Laser Technologies, Farsoon, HP, Han's Matrix3D, UnionTech, ZRapid, AVIMETAL and Haitian. Shenzhen is also the world's centre for desktop printers, and this is where Formnext Asia differs from its Frankfurt parent. A 3D Print Farm and Consumer Products Zone, which doubled in size in 2026, brings in Bambu Lab, Creality, Elegoo, Snapmaker, eSUN, SUNLU, Raise3D and a long list of filament and resin makers. First-time exhibitors in 2026 ranged from Epson and TÜV Rheinland to JLC 3D, Kingfa and the desktop-CNC start-up Makera. Exhibitors often use the show to launch products in Asia: HP debuted its MJF 1200 there in 2026, and Han's Matrix3D showed a dual-laser machine for copper thermal parts.
Visitors are engineers and buyers from electronics, EVs, robotics, moulds, dental, jewellery and footwear, plus print-farm operators and makers. In 2026 the largest international groups came from Malaysia and Thailand, followed by Russia, Singapore and the US. The side programme follows local demand, with forums on AM for humanoid robots, data-centre liquid cooling, laser processes, mould making and 3C electronics, and a print-farm and consumer AM conference. There is also a Maker Day with the Shenzhen hardware community TroubleMaker, a matchmaking meeting between Chinese suppliers and overseas distributors, and the first International 3D Printed Footwear Design Awards, which drew on nearby Dongguan's shoe industry.
In 2026 the show ran alongside Messe Frankfurt's PCIM Asia power-electronics fair, and one registration covered both. For 2027 it moves to 1–3 September.
Why go
- See industrial metal and polymer AM systems (BLT, Farsoon, HP, UnionTech) and Shenzhen's desktop giants (Bambu Lab, Creality, Elegoo) in one hall
- Sign up as a distributor: the Global AM Channel Partner & Dealer Matching Meeting pairs overseas dealers with Chinese suppliers
- Find print-farm equipment, filaments and resins for small-batch consumer production
- Forums on AM for humanoid robots, AI data-centre cooling, mould making and 3C electronics
- Free entry for trade visitors 18+
Our take
Bring business cards, because they are required for the badge, and note that photography needs the organiser's approval. If you are looking for a China supplier to distribute, apply for the channel-partner matching meeting in advance. The desktop and print-farm zone is where Shenzhen's consumer brands show their newest machines.
Go if you're

Flying in? The visitor guide
What international buyers ask us most, in one place.
Many passports get 30 days visa-free, and 55 nationalities can use 240-hour visa-free transit via Shenzhen when flying on to a third country. Check your eligibility before booking.
Link a Visa or Mastercard to Alipay or WeChat Pay before you fly — booths, taxis and canteens rarely take cards. Keep ¥500 cash for samples.
Get a roaming eSIM: Google, WhatsApp and Gmail don't work on hotel or venue Wi-Fi. Suppliers will ask for your WeChat, not your email.
Pre-register, bring your passport to collect the badge, and pack 200 business cards. Photograph each card next to the booth number — you'll forget by day two.
Hall English is patchy outside the big brands. A freelance interpreter costs ¥800–1,500 a day; book a week ahead for big fairs.
Don't carry 40 kg home. SF Express and DHL counters sit in the main lobbies and will ship samples door to door from about ¥200.
Hotels on site sell out months ahead. Bao'an Center or Qianhai are 25–30 min away with far more choice.
- Wear proper walking shoes — 20k steps a day is normal.
- Taxi queues after 5pm are brutal; walk to Shenzhen World North station or book a Didi for 4:30pm.
- Food courts sit along the central corridor; the ones at the far ends are quieter.
