What is China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF)?

The China Hi-Tech Fair (高交会) is China's national technology fair. The State Council approved it in 1999, the Shenzhen government hosts it, and Zhenwei Exhibition Group runs it. It is often mentioned alongside the Canton Fair and the China International Import Expo as one of China's three national-level trade fairs, and the organizers bill it as "China's number one tech show". The 2026 edition is the 28th and is held entirely at Shenzhen World in Bao'an.

CHTF is not a single-industry show. It is a set of 20-plus themed exhibitions under one roof. There are national showcases for big state projects and tech giants, and regional pavilions from other Chinese provinces and cities. There are university, research-institute and national-laboratory zones, plus industry halls for AI, robotics, semiconductors and ICs, consumer electronics, low-altitude aviation, commercial space, AI computing and data centres, biotech and life sciences, new materials, water and environment, and future buildings. For 2026 a new "Big Energy" sector groups new power systems, energy storage and batteries, hydrogen, solar-storage-charging, and computing power in one hall.

The 2025 fair drew more than 450,000 admissions over three days, with visitors from 120+ countries and regions. It reported 1,023 signed deals and over ¥170 billion in intended transactions and investment. Exhibitors included BYD, Tencent, Huawei, Honor, Empyrean and Unitree, plus state heavyweights such as China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, CNOOC, CGN and China Southern Power Grid. They showed Long March rocket models, the Hualong One reactor design and EHang's EH216-S passenger drone. For 2026, Unitree and Songyan Power are named for the robotics hall, and coverage of the new energy sector notes that battery makers such as CATL and Sunwoda keep coming back.

Beyond the halls there are more than 200 events. These include the China Hi-Tech Forum, a global buyer-matchmaking conference (1,036 buyer groups in 2025), an investment matchmaking conference that drew more than 3,000 investment institutions in 2025, launch events and awards. The fair is partly a policy showcase and partly a trade fair. It is crowded, broad and very public-facing, and it gives a quick overview of where Chinese tech and industrial policy are heading. That suits newcomers to Shenzhen, investors and anyone scouting partners across several sectors at once.

Why go

  1. One-stop overview of Chinese tech, from rockets and nuclear to humanoid robots, chips, drones and AI
  2. New 2026 'Big Energy' hall: grid, storage and batteries, hydrogen, charging and computing power together
  3. Buyer and investor matchmaking conferences (over 1,000 buyer groups and 3,000 investment institutions in 2025)
  4. Free with pre-registration before noon on 25 November, and visitors get free metro and bus e-tickets
  5. China Hi-Tech Forum and 200+ launches, summits and award events

Our take

Pre-register before noon on 25 November. It saves the ¥120 ticket, and the e-ticket allows repeat entry on all three days. Visitors from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan and foreign passport holders should go to the visitor service desk to sort out entry. The fair also gives visitors free metro and bus e-tickets through the Shenzhen Tong app, so enter a phone number linked to WeChat when you register.

Go if you're

  • Investors and corporate-development teams scouting Chinese tech
  • Buyers joining the global procurement matchmaking
  • Government, university and research delegations
  • Newcomers wanting a broad overview of Shenzhen and Chinese industry

Flying in? The visitor guide

What international buyers ask us most, in one place.

Visa-free entry

Many passports get 30 days visa-free, and 55 nationalities can use 240-hour visa-free transit via Shenzhen when flying on to a third country. Check your eligibility before booking.

Paying for things

Link a Visa or Mastercard to Alipay or WeChat Pay before you fly — booths, taxis and canteens rarely take cards. Keep ¥500 cash for samples.

Staying online

Get a roaming eSIM: Google, WhatsApp and Gmail don't work on hotel or venue Wi-Fi. Suppliers will ask for your WeChat, not your email.

Badge & business cards

Pre-register, bring your passport to collect the badge, and pack 200 business cards. Photograph each card next to the booth number — you'll forget by day two.

Interpreters

Hall English is patchy outside the big brands. A freelance interpreter costs ¥800–1,500 a day; book a week ahead for big fairs.

Samples & shipping

Don't carry 40 kg home. SF Express and DHL counters sit in the main lobbies and will ship samples door to door from about ¥200.

Where to stay near Shenzhen World

Hotels on site sell out months ahead. Bao'an Center or Qianhai are 25–30 min away with far more choice.

  • Wear proper walking shoes — 20k steps a day is normal.
  • Taxi queues after 5pm are brutal; walk to Shenzhen World North station or book a Didi for 4:30pm.
  • Food courts sit along the central corridor; the ones at the far ends are quieter.
