What is DMP Greater Bay Area Industrial Expo?

DMP is South China's big year-end machinery fair. It began in 1999 as the Dongguan mould, metalworking, plastics and packaging show, run by the Hong Kong organiser Paper Communication Exhibition Services, and grew with the Pearl River Delta's factory economy. In 2019 it moved to the new Shenzhen World complex in Bao'an and was relaunched as the DMP Greater Bay Area Industrial Expo. The 2026 show, its 27th, fills Halls 9–16 over four days in early December (the 2025 edition opened in early November).

DMP is really a cluster of sub-shows under one badge. There is a metalworking and CNC machine-tool show (five-axis, gantry, turn-mill, grinding and EDM machines), a CNC cutting-tool show (carbide inserts, tool grinders and abrasives), a plastics machinery and materials show (injection moulding, extrusion, blown film and hot runners), a metal-casting and die-casting show co-organised with the Hong Kong Foundry Association, welding and cutting, 3D printing, a manufacturing-digitalisation hall for motion control, sensors, robot components and metrology, and a "national brands" pavilion for Chinese-made machine tools. The 2026 booked-exhibitor list includes Bosch Rexroth, Keyence, LK Machinery (die-casting machines), Jiangxi Tungsten Carbide, Suzhou Xinrui Alloy Tools and metal-3D-printing firm Shanghai Yisu Laser.

The visitors are the people who run workshops: mould makers, machining subcontractors, die-casters, plastics moulders and engineers from the electronics, hardware, automotive-parts and appliance plants of Dongguan, Shenzhen and Foshan. They come to compare machines side by side, check prices and lead times, and look for component suppliers. The organiser reports 123,708 visitors for the 2018 Dongguan edition and 132,790 for the first Shenzhen edition in 2019.

The side programme is large and mostly in Chinese. For 2026 it includes the 8th China International CNC Cutting Tool Festival, a mould-industry supply-and-demand conference, a five-axis machining and tooling skills contest, forums on robot components, smart sensing, new-energy vehicle parts and going global in Southeast Asia, and the Fitmi Asian innovation and invention awards.

If you buy machined, moulded or cast parts in the Pearl River Delta, DMP shows you the equipment your suppliers use and the Chinese machine-tool brands that now compete with Japanese, German and Taiwanese makers.

Why go

  1. Compare CNC machine tools, cutting tools, die-casting and injection-moulding machines side by side across eight halls
  2. See the growing range of Chinese-brand five-axis and gantry machines in the dedicated national-brands pavilion
  3. Meet mould makers, casting and machining subcontractors that supply Pearl River Delta factories
  4. Free entry for trade visitors 18+, with a four-day run that includes a Sunday morning
  5. Forums and contests, including the CNC Cutting Tool Festival and a five-axis machining skills contest

Our take

Allow a full day because eight halls of heavy machinery is a lot of walking, and note that the last day closes at 14:00. Children under 12 are not admitted, and most forums are in Chinese, so bring a colleague or a translation app if you plan to talk technical details with the machine builders.

Go if you're

  • Mould makers, CNC machining shops and die-casters in Dongguan, Shenzhen and Foshan
  • Production and process engineers from electronics, hardware, auto-parts and appliance factories
  • Plastics processors looking at injection moulding, extrusion and materials
  • Buyers sourcing machined, moulded or cast parts who want to see supplier capabilities
  • Machine-tool distributors and agents

Flying in? The visitor guide

What international buyers ask us most, in one place.

Visa-free entry

Many passports get 30 days visa-free, and 55 nationalities can use 240-hour visa-free transit via Shenzhen when flying on to a third country. Check your eligibility before booking.

Paying for things

Link a Visa or Mastercard to Alipay or WeChat Pay before you fly — booths, taxis and canteens rarely take cards. Keep ¥500 cash for samples.

Staying online

Get a roaming eSIM: Google, WhatsApp and Gmail don't work on hotel or venue Wi-Fi. Suppliers will ask for your WeChat, not your email.

Badge & business cards

Pre-register, bring your passport to collect the badge, and pack 200 business cards. Photograph each card next to the booth number — you'll forget by day two.

Interpreters

Hall English is patchy outside the big brands. A freelance interpreter costs ¥800–1,500 a day; book a week ahead for big fairs.

Samples & shipping

Don't carry 40 kg home. SF Express and DHL counters sit in the main lobbies and will ship samples door to door from about ¥200.

Where to stay near Shenzhen World

Hotels on site sell out months ahead. Bao'an Center or Qianhai are 25–30 min away with far more choice.

  • Wear proper walking shoes — 20k steps a day is normal.
  • Taxi queues after 5pm are brutal; walk to Shenzhen World North station or book a Didi for 4:30pm.
  • Food courts sit along the central corridor; the ones at the far ends are quieter.
