What is Automotive World China (AWC)?

Automotive World China (AWC) is a B2B trade show about what goes inside smart and electric cars rather than the cars themselves. It is run by RX (part of RELX), the events group behind NEPCON and many other industrial fairs, with Shenzhen's municipal and Bao'an district new-energy-vehicle offices as advisors, and it takes place at Shenzhen World in Bao'an. The organizers describe it as a show for the "pre-installation" market, meaning the components, electronics and software that carmakers and their Tier-1 suppliers build into vehicles at the factory.

For 2026 the focus has narrowed to automotive electronics manufacturing. On the floor you'll find chips and power semiconductors (SiC, IGBT, automotive PMICs), sensors, cameras, radar and lidar, domain controllers, in-car AI chips, PCB materials, thermal and potting materials, solder pastes and coatings. The centrepiece is a working demonstration production line covering SMT/DIP assembly, semiconductor packaging and testing, high-voltage wire-harness processing and reliability testing. Equipment makers Yuzhou Electronic, Tianji Intelligent, Helixin, Langguang and Liyade were the first to sign up for it. Past editions had a broader line-up: in 2023 the exhibitor list included Bosch, BorgWarner, ROHM, ETAS, SGS, BYD Semiconductor, Gotion High-tech, Baidu, Tencent, Pony.ai, WeRide, XPeng and DeepRoute.ai, and the 2025 organizers named Dongfeng Motor, BWI Group, Neusoft Reach, Hangsheng and robo-delivery maker Neolix among their exhibitors.

Visitors are engineers, buyers and managers from carmakers, Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers, electronics contract manufacturers and packaging and test houses. RX offers buyer matchmaking and a hosted-buyer programme for groups from carmakers and associations. Talks happen in the AWC theatre: in 2026 there is a full-day seminar on automotive-grade electronics manufacturing (AEC-Q testing, soldering and dispensing) on 27 October, and an intelligent-vehicle "hundred forum" session on AI in car manufacturing and supply chains on 28 October. In 2025 the programme featured speakers from Valeo, Desay SV, SenseTime, NIO, WeRide and MINIEYE.

AWC runs as part of RX's ITWA Asia industrial technology week. The same badge covers NEPCON ASIA (electronics manufacturing), VisionChina (machine vision), S-Factory, C-TOUCH & Display and the Film & Tape Expo in neighbouring halls. That fits Shenzhen well, since the city is home to BYD and a dense cluster of electronics factories in Bao'an and Dongguan that increasingly supply the car industry. If you work in auto electronics sourcing, it is a practical way to meet suppliers and see production kit running, and you can walk over to the electronics shows next door on the same day.

Visa-free entry

Paying for things

Link a Visa or Mastercard to Alipay or WeChat Pay before you fly — booths, taxis and canteens rarely take cards. Keep ¥500 cash for samples.

Staying online

Get a roaming eSIM: Google, WhatsApp and Gmail don't work on hotel or venue Wi-Fi. Suppliers will ask for your WeChat, not your email.

Badge & business cards

Pre-register, bring your passport to collect the badge, and pack 200 business cards. Photograph each card next to the booth number — you'll forget by day two.

Interpreters

Hall English is patchy outside the big brands. A freelance interpreter costs ¥800–1,500 a day; book a week ahead for big fairs.

Samples & shipping

Don't carry 40 kg home. SF Express and DHL counters sit in the main lobbies and will ship samples door to door from about ¥200.

Where to stay near Shenzhen World

Hotels on site sell out months ahead. Bao'an Center or Qianhai are 25–30 min away with far more choice.

  • Wear proper walking shoes — 20k steps a day is normal.
  • Taxi queues after 5pm are brutal; walk to Shenzhen World North station or book a Didi for 4:30pm.
  • Food courts sit along the central corridor; the ones at the far ends are quieter.
