Shenzhen Bay is where the city's technology story becomes easy to experience. Around Houhai and Talent Park, you can collect a food order delivered by drone, try to book a robotaxi, handle new consumer hardware and finish with a waterfront walk beneath one of China's most recognizable skylines.
Unlike a factory tour, most of this route needs no business invitation. It works as a half-day outing and still leaves time for dinner around Shenzhen Bay MixC.
The Short Version
Start at Talent Park in the early afternoon. Order drone delivery while you are close to the correct collection point, then walk around the lake toward Shenzhen Bay Culture Square. Visit INNO100 and continue to the Bambu Lab flagship around MixC Shenzhen Bay. Book a robotaxi only after confirming the app, phone number and pickup point.
Allow four to five hours without a robotaxi detour, or six hours if you add a ride, a long meal or the DJI flagship at OCT Harbour.
Stop 1: Talent Park
Talent Park (人才公园) is the anchor. The landscaped park curves around a lake facing the China Resources tower and Houhai skyline, and it connects toward the larger Shenzhen Bay waterfront.
Talent Park Station on Line 13 is now the most direct arrival for many visitors. Houhai Station remains useful if you are coming via Lines 2/8 or 11 and want to approach through the commercial district. Check your chosen map app because exits and walking routes change with construction.
The park itself is free. Go during daylight for the technology experiences, then stay through blue hour for skyline photographs. On hot days, avoid building the whole route around the middle of the afternoon; shaded rest stops are limited along parts of the water.
Try Drone Food Delivery
Meituan operates a drone food-delivery collection point in the Talent Park/Shenzhen Bay area. You order from an eligible restaurant, select the supported aerial delivery destination and collect the package from a locker beneath the landing equipment.
The difficult part is not watching the drone. It is making sure the order is connected to the correct station. Open Meituan while you are near the park, look for the drone-delivery symbol and confirm the Chinese pickup-point name before paying. Menus and operating hours change, and weather can pause service.
The collection sequence is quick: the aircraft reaches the station, transfers the package into the secure system and leaves; your order code opens the assigned compartment. Arrive before ordering if you are worried about finding the station.
Our detailed Shenzhen drone delivery guide includes the app steps, Chinese terms and a firsthand Xiaohongshu account of locating the Talent Park point.
Try a Driverless Taxi
Nanshan is one of Shenzhen's robotaxi service areas, and a ride fits naturally around Talent Park. Pony.ai uses the PonyPilot+ app and designated pickup/drop-off points rather than behaving like a taxi you simply hail from the pavement.
Set up the account before the day of your trip. A mainland mobile number, identity verification or a compatible Chinese app-store account may be required, and operating zones can change. Search the live map before promising the ride to a group.
A robotaxi may still have remote assistance or an in-car safety arrangement depending on the route and current permit. The useful experience is watching the vehicle handle ordinary lanes, traffic lights and urban road users—not proving that every seat is empty.
Use our Shenzhen robotaxi guide for current apps, service areas and booking steps.
Stop 2: Shenzhen Bay Culture Square and INNO100
Shenzhen Bay Culture Square sits beside the park as a group of stone-like buildings designed by MAD Architects. The public complex began trial operation in late 2025 and includes design exhibitions, cultural spaces and retail.
Nanshan District currently lists the main cultural venue hours as 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday. Individual exhibitions and shops can keep different hours or require tickets, so check the programme rather than assuming the entire complex follows one schedule.
INNO100 is the technology-shopping anchor. Its official site describes the Shenzhen Bay Culture Square location as a place to experience consumer innovation. The appeal is breadth: crowdfunding-style hardware, smart-home devices, design products and emerging gadgets can be handled in one polished space.
Treat it as a changing showroom, not a permanent museum. Product demonstrations, workshops and stock rotate. Look up the current event calendar if a specific robot or device is the reason for your visit.
Use our INNO100 Shenzhen guide for the current location, robot and exoskeleton advice, workshop questions and a visit plan.
Stop 3: Bambu Lab and 3D Printing
Bambu Lab opened its first retail flagship in Shenzhen's Nanshan District, around the Shenzhen Bay MixC ecosystem. The store turns desktop 3D printing into an accessible public demonstration: printers run in view, finished objects show the difference between materials and staff can explain the workflow from digital model to physical part.
The best part for a casual visitor is seeing several printers working without needing a factory invitation. Families may also find scheduled 3D-printing activities, including the newer Bambu Lab collaboration aimed at children, but these should be booked as separate programmes when offered.
Confirm the precise map pin and opening hours on Bambu Lab's current store page before visiting. Shenzhen has multiple MixC-branded malls; you want Shenzhen Bay MixC, not MixC World in High-Tech Park or Shenzhen MixC in Luohu.
Stop 4: Shenzhen Bay MixC
Shenzhen Bay MixC is an 80,000-square-metre mall integrated with the Houhai business district. It provides air-conditioning, restaurants and other electronics or EV showrooms between the outdoor stops.
This is a useful place to notice how Chinese technology brands are sold: many stores feel closer to automotive studios or galleries than traditional electronics shops. Displays change quickly, so describe the mall as a place for current consumer-tech browsing rather than promising a specific brand forever.
Optional Extension: DJI at OCT Harbour
DJI's main Shenzhen flagship at OCT Harbour is an excellent addition, but it is not part of the compact Talent Park walk. Use Metro Line 9, a taxi or ride-hailing rather than underestimating the distance.
The store displays drones, Osmo cameras and gimbals and may run demonstrations. Our DJI Shenzhen shopping guide has the current address, hours and advice for visitors buying mainland versions.
Add 90 minutes to two hours for the transfer and visit. OCT Harbour is a good dinner finish if you reverse the route.
What You Cannot Normally Visit
Nanshan's skyline is filled with famous company offices, but a headquarters building is not automatically a tourist attraction. Tencent, DJI Sky City and other corporate campuses generally require an invitation, appointment or public event for interior access.
It is fine to see architecture from public streets. Do not enter staff areas, photograph security points or build a travel plan around an unconfirmed “headquarters tour.” The public stores and working city services are more rewarding anyway.
A Practical Half-Day Itinerary
1:30 p.m. — Arrive at Talent Park. Locate the drone station before ordering and leave time for the service to be unavailable.
2:00 p.m. — Collect a drone-delivered drink or meal. Watch from the marked public area and keep clear of operational equipment.
2:30 p.m. — Walk the park and waterfront. Use the lake for skyline views and take a short rest before the indoor stops.
3:30 p.m. — Shenzhen Bay Culture Square and INNO100. Check any design exhibition closing time first.
4:45 p.m. — Bambu Lab and Shenzhen Bay MixC. Watch the printers, browse current tech stores and eat nearby.
6:30 p.m. — Sunset or optional DJI extension. In summer, sunset is later; in winter, adjust the entire route earlier.
Fit the robotaxi into any open period only after the app shows a valid pickup and drop-off. A live booking is more reliable than a rigid published time.
What to Prepare
- A working data connection and translation app.
- Alipay or WeChat Pay set up before arrival.
- A mainland number if your chosen robotaxi or delivery flow requires one.
- Chinese place names saved in your map app.
- Comfortable walking shoes, water and sun/rain protection.
- A backup plan if weather stops drones or no robotaxi is available.
Technology tourism works best when one failed app does not ruin the day. Talent Park, the architecture and the stores remain worthwhile even if neither vehicle flies nor drives on demand.
