What is Shenzhen International Nuclear Energy Industry Innovation Expo (CINIE)?

CINIE, known in Chinese as the Shenzhen Nuclear Expo (深圳核博会), is China's annual get-together for the civil nuclear industry. It combines a national conference on the "high-quality development" of nuclear energy with a large exhibition at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center in Futian. The main hosts are the China Energy Research Society and China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN), which is headquartered in Shenzhen and runs the Daya Bay plant on the city's eastern coast. They are joined by the other state nuclear and power groups: CNNC, China Huaneng, China Datang, SPIC and China Energy Investment. The first edition was in 2022 and 2026 is the fifth. The organizers bill it as the world's largest nuclear energy event.

The exhibition covers the whole nuclear supply chain. The big stands belong to state-owned groups. At the 2025 show CGN brought more than 30 exhibits, including a new digital instrumentation-and-control system and its "Wukong" inspection robots, and CNNC showed its Hualong One and Linglong One reactor designs, floating reactors, uranium-from-seawater research and fusion work. Equipment makers such as Harbin Electric, Dongfang Electric, Shanghai Electric, China First Heavy Industries and Sinomach also exhibited, and the 2026 exhibitor news so far includes suppliers of special cables, domestic PLCs and bimetal composite pipes. The organizers counted 51 central state-owned enterprises at the 2025 edition, and more than 600 exhibitors over 60,000 m².

The conference side is at least as important as the floor. The 2025 programme had an opening ceremony and plenary with officials from the National Energy Administration and the nuclear safety regulator, a CGN supplier conference, and 15 themed forums. Topics included I&C digitalisation, advanced reactors, fusion, in-service inspection, plant construction, robotics and AI, cooling-water safety and materials ageing. There was also a debut showcase for new technologies, an AI + nuclear roadshow and science outreach for school groups. The organizers reported more than 50,000 professional visitors in 2025.

Who should go? Engineers, procurement staff and business-development people working in nuclear power, fusion, heavy equipment, instrumentation, robotics, specialty materials or nuclear medicine. It is also useful for foreign suppliers and consultancies trying to understand how China's reactor programme buys equipment, since CGN even held a supplier conference there in 2025. Registration is through the organizer's WeChat mini-program. The programme is aimed at the domestic industry, although the organizer also publishes its website in English, French and Russian.

Why go

  1. See China's reactor programme in one place: CGN, CNNC, SPIC, Huaneng and their equipment suppliers
  2. Meet nuclear procurement teams: the 2025 edition included a dedicated CGN supplier conference
  3. Fifteen specialist forums in 2025, from I&C digitalisation and in-service inspection to fusion and robotics
  4. Track new launches such as CGN's digital I&C system and nuclear inspection robots shown in 2025
  5. Explore adjacent markets: fusion start-ups, nuclear technology applications and marine nuclear power

Our take

Register early through the WeChat mini-program, which needs a working WeChat account. The forums are aimed at the domestic industry, so bring a Chinese-speaking colleague if you plan to sit in on sessions. The CGN and CNNC stands are the best starting points for understanding who buys what.

Go if you're

  • Engineers and managers from nuclear plant owners, designers and builders
  • Equipment, instrumentation, materials and robotics suppliers to the nuclear industry
  • Fusion and advanced-reactor researchers and start-ups

Flying in? The visitor guide

What international buyers ask us most, in one place.

Visa-free entry

Many passports get 30 days visa-free, and 55 nationalities can use 240-hour visa-free transit via Shenzhen when flying on to a third country. Check your eligibility before booking.

Paying for things

Link a Visa or Mastercard to Alipay or WeChat Pay before you fly — booths, taxis and canteens rarely take cards. Keep ¥500 cash for samples.

Staying online

Get a roaming eSIM: Google, WhatsApp and Gmail don't work on hotel or venue Wi-Fi. Suppliers will ask for your WeChat, not your email.

Badge & business cards

Pre-register, bring your passport to collect the badge, and pack 200 business cards. Photograph each card next to the booth number — you'll forget by day two.

Interpreters

Hall English is patchy outside the big brands. A freelance interpreter costs ¥800–1,500 a day; book a week ahead for big fairs.

Samples & shipping

Don't carry 40 kg home. SF Express and DHL counters sit in the main lobbies and will ship samples door to door from about ¥200.

Where to stay near Futian CEC

Walk to a dozen business hotels in the CBD, and to the rooftop bars afterwards.

  • Enter from the metro level, not the street — the badge desks are underground.
  • Lunch: skip the hall canteens and walk 5 min to the malls around Shopping Park.
