Prince Bay Art Center深圳太子湾美术馆
New contemporary art centre on the Shekou waterfront, opened 30 September 2026 with Jon Burgerman's 'It's Great to Create!'. Tickets are sold through the Sea World Culture & Arts Center's WeChat account.
Shekou's newest art museum, opened September 2026 beside the Sea World arts centre
Prince Bay Art Center (深圳太子湾美术馆) opened on 30 September 2026 on the Prince Bay (Taiziwan) waterfront in Shekou. It is run by the Sea World Culture and Arts Center as its second venue and linked to it by a covered walkway, so the two work as a pair: Maki's building for the large shows, this one for a separate programme of exhibitions, talks, screenings and workshops.
The galleries are on the fourth floor of 38 Prince Bay Road. Coverage of the opening describes plain white rooms with natural light, exhibition halls built to international standards for handling art, and multipurpose spaces for public events.
The opening show is 'It's Great to Create!' (集乐无界), the first big mainland China exhibition by Jon Burgerman, the New York-based English artist known for his doodled characters. It runs until 28 February 2027 and is built for taking part as well as looking, which makes it one of the more child-friendly art outings in the city this winter.
What to see and do
Jon Burgerman: It's Great to Create!
New paintings, commissioned sculptures, installations and animated work, including rooms you can walk into, small ceramic characters hidden around the show and a tear-and-paste art workshop. On until 28 February 2027.
Paired with the Sea World Culture and Arts Center
A covered walkway joins the two venues, so one trip to Sea World gives you two programmes.
Prince Bay waterfront
The museum is on the new Taiziwan seafront, so you can walk the promenade from Sea World before or after your visit.
