Who's playing
Headliner
Shenyang, China · Classical, Piano
China's most famous classical musician and one of the best-known pianists in the world. Born in Shenyang, he studied at Beijing's Central Conservatory and then the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia, and became an overnight name at 17 when he stepped in as a last-minute substitute with the Chicago Symphony. Since then he has played with essentially every major orchestra, at the Beijing 2008 Olympics opening ceremony, and at the Grammys alongside Metallica and Herbie Hancock. He is a UN Messenger of Peace, runs a foundation for music education, and opened his first piano school, Lang Lang Music World, in Shenzhen in 2012. A solo recital is the closest way to hear him: no orchestra, just one pianist and a grand piano for about 90 minutes.
