Buyi (布衣乐队) are a rock band from Yinchuan in Ningxia, formed in 1995 and fronted by singer-guitarist Wu Ningyue. They're a flagship of China's north-western 'earthy rock' (土摇): plain-spoken songs about ordinary life, friendship and home, played as straightforward guitar rock with folk roots. Their debut album 那么久 came out in 2007, and songs like 秋天 ('Autumn'), 羊肉面 ('Lamb Noodles') and 我爱你亲爱的姑娘 are crowd favourites. They also worked on the soundtrack of the film Crazy Stone and appeared on The Big Band 3 in 2023. For the 云起时 ('Clouds Rising') tour they've dropped most backing tracks and play as a straight four-piece.
